Electrical Lab Experiments

To construct a single phase full-wave rectifier using diode and draw its performance

Aim

To construct a single phase full-wave rectifier using diode and draw its performance.

Apparatus Required:

S.No. Name Range Quantity
1 Transformer 230/(6-0-6)V 1
2 R.P.S (0-30)V 2

Components Required:

S.No. Name Range Quantity
1 Diode IN4007 2
2 Resistor 1KΩ 1
3 Bread Board - 1
4 Capacitor 100μF
5 CRO 1Hz-200MHz 1
6 Connecting wires - Required

Formulae

Without Filter

  • Vrms= Vm/√2
  • Vdc= 2Vm
  • Ripple Factor= √[Vrms /V dc] 2-1
  • Efficiency= (V dc/ V rms)2 x100

With Filter

  • Vrms=Vrpp/ (2*√3)
  • Vdc= Vm- Vrpp
  • Ripple Factor= Vrms/Vdc

Procedure

Without Filter

  1. Give the connections as per the circuit diagram.
  2. A 230 V, 50 Hz AC input given to primary side of the transformer where the phases end of the secondary is connected to anode terminal of the diode.
  3. Observe the output across the 1 K ohm load with use of CRO.
  4. Plot its performance graph.
